SYNOPSIS

Eva Mitchell never imagined she’d end up a forty-four-year-old divorced stay-at-home mother. After the husband who insisted she give up her career leaves her for another woman, she spends her days trying to navigate her new life and her nights wondering where it all went wrong—until one phone call changes everything and sends her careening down the rocky road of memory lane, straight back to the late ‘80s and a world filled with sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll.

When Eva takes a job with her boyfriend’s band in 1989, she’s thrust deep into the Sunset Strip music scene and beyond as the band takes off, and they set out on a cross-country tour. But what starts as a never-ending party quickly becomes more than she bargained for, culminating in one of the most shocking moments in musical history—an event that alters the course of her life.

Nearly twenty years later, she comes face-to-face with one of the ghosts of her past who reawakens the strong, capable woman she’s always been. With the kind of love she’s always longed for within reach, Eva is faced with the decision to dive head first into uncharted waters or drown in the fears her past left behind.

JEN DAVIS

Jen Davis lives in Nashville with her husband and daughter. She first realized she had a passion for books when she was eight years old and secretly stayed up all night to finish The Crooked Banister in the Nancy Drew series.

After many years of daydreaming and finding inspiration in songs, the stories of others, and her own lived experiences, she finally decided to put pen to paper (so to speak) in the midst of the pandemic in July 2020 and write the book she always wanted to read.

When her head isn't in the clouds, she enjoys the company of her friends, family, and ornery house cat, Itty. For Eva is her debut novel.

What Readers Are Saying…

  • "What a wonderful debut novel!"

    ★★★★★

This is a beautifully written and complex love story with well-developed, relatable characters and all the feels. Davis does a wonderful job capturing the 80's rock scene (yay!). I also loved how seamlessly this novel went back-and-forth in time, letting us live through and see the backstory. Davis' writing is emotional and real and will have you believing in second chances.

  • "I just sat down and read this book for 5 hours straight."

    ★★★★★

I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN! It was amazing. I really loved how the book spans decades of time, and so much of it happens while the main characters are in their 40s, which is so different than so many books on the market where everyone is a 20 something. The whole time I was reading, I just kept thinking this would make an amazing movie. What a fantastic debut novel.

    — GOODREADS REVIEWER

  • "This just became one of my top reads EVER."

    ★★★★★

The vibes of this book are absolutely iconic. I found myself laughing, smiling, swooning, furious, angry, wanting to throw the book at times.
This was the perfect combination of rock and roll, romance, drugs, L.A. in the 80's and 90's, and it blew my mind.
For anyone who ever felt like they lost themselves in a relationship or motherhood... wow this was absolute perfection.
